Sadhus Protest in Delhi Over Alleged Ram Mandir Donation Irregularities
Hundreds of sadhus and religious leaders took to the streets of New Delhi, demanding an independent investigation into alleged irregularities in donations and offerings made to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Sadhus March in Delhi Seeking Independent Probe
Around 500 sadhus and saints reportedly gathered near Mandi House before marching towards the Prime Minister’s residence. Led by religious figures including Computer Baba and Prakashanand Giri Maharaj, the protesters demanded a CBI-monitored investigation and strict action if any wrongdoing is established.
What Is the Ram Mandir Donation Controversy?
The protest comes amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of theft and embezzlement involving donations at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. An SIT is probing the alleged financial irregularities, with reports stating that eight people have been arrested and ₹79.85 lakh recovered from the accused.
Supreme Court Intervention and Demand for Transparency
The controversy has also reached the Supreme Court. Petitions seeking a court-monitored investigation into the alleged donation irregularities are scheduled to be heard on August 17. The court had earlier asked the Uttar Pradesh government to consider the SIT route while cautioning against politicising the matter.
While the allegations remain under investigation, the protest has renewed the debate over transparency and accountability in the management of devotees’ donations and offerings.
The protesting religious leaders have called for a credible probe to establish the facts and ensure that those responsible for any financial wrongdoing are held accountable.
