A Bengaluru court has re-issued a non-bailable warrant against actor Prakash Raj.

The complainant alleged that, in addition to being registered as a voter in Bengaluru’s Shantinagar Assembly constituency, Prakash Raj’s name also appeared in two locations in Chennai under the Velachery Assembly constituency, as well as in Telangana’s Serilingampally Assembly constituency.

Bengaluru Court Re-Issues NBW Against Prakash Raj

A Bengaluru court has re-issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against actor Prakash Raj in connection with allegations that his name appeared in four different electoral rolls across three states, including Karnataka. The warrant was re-issued on June 12 following a petition filed by Bengaluru-based advocate K. Dilip Kumar.

Third Non-Bailable Warrant Issued

According to court records, this is the third time an NBW has been issued against the actor. Earlier, on February 17, 2026, the court had issued a summons through the Commissioner of Police.

However, authorities were unable to locate Prakash Raj at the address provided in the petition.

Court Notes Repeated Absence

While issuing the first NBW on March 17, the court noted that the accused had vacated the residence and remained absent despite being called. The matter was then posted for April 17, but when the actor again failed to appear, the warrant was re-issued.

A third NBW was subsequently issued on June 12, 2026. Court proceedings noted that the Presiding Officer had been away on training, and the next hearing in the case has been scheduled for July 25, 2026.

Allegations Linked to 2019 Lok Sabha Election

The case originates from Prakash Raj’s candidature in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Bengaluru Central constituency. In a petition filed in 2023, complainant Dilip Kumar alleged that, in addition to being registered as a voter in Bengaluru’s Shantinagar Assembly segment, the actor’s name also appeared in two locations in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, under the Velachery Assembly constituency, as well as in the Serilingampally Assembly segment in Telangana.

Complainant Approached Police Before Moving Court

The complainant stated that he had approached the jurisdictional police station in April 2019 regarding the matter, but no action was taken. He subsequently moved the court, which took cognizance of the case in 2023.

Court Takes Cognizance Under Representation of the People Act

On August 1, 2025, the court said it had taken cognizance of offences punishable under Sections 31 and 125A of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and directed that summons be issued.

Since then, the matter has been heard on multiple occasions, with summons being issued to the actor. Following his repeated non-appearance before the court, non-bailable warrants were issued against him.
