17 Injured After Air India Flight Hits Severe Turbulence, Drops 300 Feet Mid-Air


New Delhi: Seventeen people were injured after an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi encountered severe turbulence and briefly lost around 300 feet of altitude during cruise on Tuesday.

Flight AI2379, operated by an Airbus A320neo, was carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members when the aircraft experienced the sudden altitude deviation. Despite the mid-air turbulence, the flight continued its journey and landed safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11:07 a.m. IST without any further operational issues.


Air India Flight Encounters Severe Turbulence During Phuket-Delhi Journey


According to Air India, 17 people—13 passengers and four cabin crew members— sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals in Delhi for medical evaluation after the aircraft landed.


 Air India Confirms Medical Assistance and Safe Response


The airline said medical teams were deployed immediately upon arrival to assist those affected. By 6:50 p.m. IST on August 4, five passengers had been discharged, while the remaining injured continued to receive treatment and medical care.
